It has come to our attention that there has been an application to remove restrictive title deed conditions and consent use to erect a telecommunications mast on Erf 2768, Kenton.

Should permission be granted the tower would be situated at the back of the closed car park next to SPAR.

The deadline for submission of consent or objections is 23 December 2019.

Please find links to all relevant documents and plans.

  1. Hurray! This should improve cell phone reception for the current subscribers that have very poor reception due to being on the land-side of streets like River Road, Bathurst Street etc. Currently cellular data services are just not a viable option at some addresses.

  2. Very sorry to hear this – there will be a huge spike of cancers and related illnesses because of the radiation emitted from this mast once it goes up. Think there should be a petition to prevent – you may have better signal but it will seriously affect your health! Very very sad to hear about this apication

    • There is an email address on the letter where you can send your objection!

    • “A large number of studies have been performed over the last two decades to assess whether mobile phones pose a potential health risk. To date, no adverse health effects have been established as being caused by mobile phone use.”

  3. Any plan for a Vodacom tower? Vodacom reception is sketchy at the best of times

  4. There is already a cell phone mast on the vacant property behind the SPAR?
If the intention is to upgrade the existing one to give better coverage, I would think that is quite good. i would hope it is not a huge ugly structure though?

  5. I certainly agree completely with Linda Uys. Health wise it is definitely a very very bad idea.
